St. Bonaventure collected the first win of the home-and-home series with the Griffs, improving to 9-21 as Canisius fell to 9-16 with the setback.

Ryan Kucy picked up the win on the bump for the Bonnies, delivering two innings of scoreless relief. Graduate Kyle Finn was credited with his first loss of the season after 1.1 innings of relief, allowing three runs on one hit.

Manuel Castro's three-run triple in the fourth was the highlight of the Bonnies' lineup that also saw Anthony Fernandez turn in a 3-for-5 performance at the plate with an RBI and three runs scored.

St. Bonaventure opened the scoring in the third, stringing together an RBI single from Fernandez and a run-scoring double from Antonio Cordeiro to take a 2-0 lead.

The Griffs answered in the fourth, loading the bases and plating two as graduate Tyler Hoover brought in a run after being hit by a pitch, and redshirt junior Ronan Glassford scored later in the inning to tie the game.

St. Bonaventure loaded the bases in the bottom half of the fourth for Castro, who delivered a bases-clearing triple to give the Bonnies the 5-2 lead.

The Bonnies added to their lead in the following inning as Joey Bruno delivered a two-run single up the middle, extending the lead to five runs.

Continuing to build their lead, St. Bonaventure scored three more in the sixth, started by Cordeiro's second RBI of the day. The Bonnies loaded the bases later in the inning and added a pair of RBI from Ashton Ross and Joey Calabretti to extend their advantage to eight runs.

Christian Lamothe closed out the scoring in the eighth, lifting a sacrifice fly to right as St. Bonaventure closed out the nine-run win.
