Golf Closes Out Trip to Abarta Coca-Cola Invitational

Canisius senior Ryan Edholm shot an even-par 72 to earn his third top-10 performance of the season as the Golden Griffin golf team closed out its trip to the Abarta Coca-Cola Invitational at Northampton Country Club in Easton, Pa., on Monday. As a team, Canisius shot a team-score of 615 for the two-day event, which placed the team in a tie for 12th place with Laval.

Edholm, who is the program's active leader in career top-20 finishes with 12, recorded back-to-back birdies on his final two holes of the tournament to shoot the 72 on Monday. That even-par effort marked the 12th time this season (out of 19 rounds) where the Tonawanda, N.Y., native has shot even-par or better. Freshman Chase Burgess posted a second-round score of 77 to finish tied 67th in the field, while sophomore Jake Dantonio also posted a 77 on Monday to tie for 77th. Fellow sophomore Mikey Takacs shot a 78 on Monday and tied for 60th in the field.

Sacred Heart won the 2025 Abarta Coca-Cola Invitational with a two-round team score of 580, which was five strokes better than second-place Fairfield. Merrimack's Jai-Jung Huang won individial medalist honors after he defeated Millersville's Tim Peters in a playoff. Both Huang and Peters finished the tournament with a 36-hole score of 140, which was four-under par.

Canisius will return to action on Saturday at the N.Y./Pa. Division I Quad Match, hosted by Mercyhurst, in North East, Pa.
