Golf Battles Wind and Rain on First Day of Abarta Coca-Cola Invitational

The Canisius golf team battled wind and rain on the first day of the 2025 Abarta Coca-Cola Invitational at Northampton Country Club in Easton, Pa. The Golden Griffins posted a team score of 311, which places the Blue and Gold in 14th place out of 16 teams in the field after the event's first 18 holes.

Canisius senior Ryan Edholm shot an even-par 72 on Sunday to put him in a six-way tie for 11th place after the opening round. Sophomore Mikey Takacs shot a five-over 77 (T41) and freshman Chase Burgess carded an eight-over par score of 80, which puts him in an eight-way tie for 69th.

As a team, Canisius' 311 leaves the team two-strokes behind Laval, and just five strokes back of 10th place Lafayette. Sacred Heart leads the team portion of the tournament after day one, as the Pioneers shot a 293 on the day, which is one stroke in front of second-place Villanova.

The second and final round of the 2025 Abarta Coca-Cola Invitational will tee-off at 9 a.m., on Monday.
