Men’s Lacrosse Trio Honored as MAAC Announces Regular Season Award Winners

Junior long-stick midfielder Alexis Simard, sophomore midfielder Jordan Reed and freshman attackman Peter Biglin were all recognized as the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference announced its 2025 Men's Lacrosse Regular Season Award Winners on Friday.
 
Simard and Reed both garnered All-MAAC Second Team distinction while Biglin was a MAAC All-Rookie Team honoree. The trio increased the number of student-athletes to receive All-MAAC distinction under eighth-year head coach Mark Miyashita to 27 and the total number of awards received by those student-athletes to 37.
 
Canisius also placed 26 student-athletes on the MAAC Men's Lacrosse All-Academic Team, fourth-most among the league's nine teams. The full list of honorees can be found below.
 
A native of Terrebonne, Quebec, Simard was recognized following a regular season that saw him appear in 11 games and make nine starts. He ranked fourth on the squad with eight caused turnovers and was sixth on the team with 22 ground balls. He also pitched in offensively with three goals.
 
Reed, a product of Coquitlam, British Columbia, enjoyed a breakout campaign that saw him lead Canisius with 22 goals while ranking second on the squad in both points (34) and assists (12). Starting all 15 games during the regular season, Reed finished with multiple points on 11 occasions, including each of the final three contests of the regular season.
 
Biglin garnered All-Rookie distinction after a regular season that saw the Bloomfield Hills, Mich., native appear in 14 games, making nine starts. He notched six goals and six assists, finishing with multiple points on four occasions. Biglin also scooped up 19 ground balls and chipped in two caused turnovers.
 
The No. 3 seed for the upcoming 2025 MAAC Men's Lacrosse Championship, Canisius opens the tournament Sunday with a first-round contest against No. 6 seed Quinnipiac.
 
Start time for the contest between the Golden Griffins and Bobcats is scheduled for noon at the Demske Sports Complex. The winner advances to face No. 2 seed Siena in the semifinal round May 1 at Sacred Heart's Campus Field in Fairfield, Conn.
