Golf Places 10th at Carpetbagger Classic

Canisius senior Ryan Edholm shot an even-par 72 to earn his sixth career top-10 finish, while sophomore Mikey Takacs shot a one-over 73 to earn a 12th place finish on the final day of the 2025 Carpetbagger Classic at Worthington Manor Golf Club in Urbana, Md.

As a team, the Golden Griffins posted a team score of 229 in the final round to close out the 36-hole tournament with a score of 608, which placed the Blue and Gold 10th in the 16-team field.

Edholm's 72 allowed him to finish the tournament with a two-round score of 147, which placed him in a five-way tie for seventh place in the individual portion of the event. The seventh-place finish for the Tonawanda, N.Y., native is his second top-10 finish of the season after he placed third at the Little Three Championship during the fall season.

Takacs' 73 gave him a tournament score of 148, making him one of five golfers in the field to tie for 12th place. This marks the fourth top-20 finish in his collegiate career and his second of the season. Canisius freshman Chase Burgess shot a four-over par score of 76 on Sunday to finish the weekend with a tournament score of 160, which put him in a five-way tie for 75th.

Aaron Sorkin from Mount St. Mary's won individual medalist honors with a two-round score of 142, which was two-under par. The Mount St. Mary's Mountaineers won the team portion of the tournament with a team score of 584, which was nine strokes better than second-place Gettysburg.

Canisius will return to action April 6-7 at the Albarta Coca-Cola Invitational, hosted by Lafayette, at Northampton Country Club in Easton, Pa.
