Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Singleton’s Career Day Leads Men’s Basketball Past Binghamton

Canisius junior Kahlil Singleton scored a career-high 33 points on the power of eight makes from 3-point range to help lead the Golden Griffins to a 75-66 victory over Binghamton in the final game of the Queen City Classic Sunday afternoon at the Koessler Athletic Center.

With the win, Canisius improved to 4-3 on the season, officially eclipsing the Griffs' win total for the entire 2024-25 campaign. Binghamton fell to 2-6 on the year with its second consecutive loss.

Singleton was one of three Griffs to record double-figures in the win, and his 33-point performance on Sunday made him the third player in the MAAC to score 30-or more points in a game this season. He ended the day by shooting 10-for-15 from the field, while going 8-for-11 from behind the arc. He was also a perfect 5-for-5 from the free-throw line in the win. Fellow junior Bryan Ndjonga added 13 points, five rebounds and two assists to the winning cause, while junior Mike Evbagharu chipped in a season-high 12 points to go with seven boards, two assists, two steals and a blocked shot. Freshman Javante Edwards added eight points and a game-high seven assists off the bench to the Blue and Gold's effort, as Canisius ended the day by shooting 49.0 percent from the field, 50.0 percent (9-of-18) from 3-point land and 85.7 percent from the free-throw line.

For Binghamton, four players scored in double-figures, led by Demetrius Lilley and Jeremiah Quigley, who each scored 15 points in the loss for the Bearcats. Jackson Benigni added 14 points and Zyier Beverly contributed 13 points for Binghamton, which shot 43.2 percent from the floor, but made just 3-of-21 3-point attempts.

Binghamton jumped out to an early 6-0 lead just 3:01 into the ball game before Singleton got the Griffs on the scoreboard with his first 3-pointer of the day off an assist from Edwards. That triple kick-started a 16-2 run for the Blue and Gold that put Canisius on top 16-8 with 12:18 left in the opening half. Of those 16 points, 12 came from Singleton, as the Vancouver, Wash., native knocked down four treys.

Canisius' offense went cold from there, however, and Binghamton took advantage, outscoring the Griffs 18-8 over the final 10:51 of the opening frame to send the Bearcats into the locker room at intermission up 26-24. Trailing 30-28 in the opening moments of the second half, Canisius made its push, using a 14-2 run over the game's next 3:42 to take a 42-33 lead with 12:49 left on the clock. In that scoring surge, Singleton scored 12 of the Griffs' points after he knocked down three more 3-pointers and three free throws.

With 5:20 showing on the clock, Benigni hit a 3-pointer for the Bearcats to trim Canisius' lead to just two points at 56-54, but a trey from Ndjonga and a pair of makes from the free-throw line by Singleton pushed the Griffs' lead back to five points at 61-56 with 4:14 left. In the game's final 3:46, Binghamton never got within five points of Canisius, as the Griffs improved to 4-0 inside the Koessler Athletic Center for the first time since 2013-14.
