Hockey Swept by Sacred Heart

Felix Trudeau tallied two goals and Ajeet Gundarah stopped 26-of-27 shots faced as Sacred Heart skated to a 3-2 victory over Canisius in Atlantic Hockey America action Saturday at Martire Family Arena in Fairfield, Conn.

Trudeau notched his league-leading eighth and ninth goals of the season for the Pioneers (5-5-1, 4-3-1 AHA), who earned a sweep of the weekend series with Saturday's victory. Josh Barnes accounted for the third SHU tally while Stephane Huard dished out two assists.

Seniors Robert Kincaid and Oliver Tarr scored for the Golden Griffins (5-6-1, 1-4-1 AHA). Senior Chase Clark got the start in goal for Canisius and finished with 24 saves.

Trudeau got SHU on the board just 34 seconds into the contest when he redirected Huard's centering feed into the Griffs goal to give the Pioneers the early advantage.

Trudeau doubled the SHU margin with less than three minutes to play in the opening frame, jamming home his own rebound from just off the left post to make it a 2-0 contest.

Kincaid cut the Canisius deficit in half with less than four minutes remaining in the middle frame, firing a shot from the left point that found its way through traffic and past Gundarah to pull the Griffs within one.
Barnes restored the Pioneers two-goal advantage moments before the three-minute mark of the third period, finishing off a rush by knocking home the feed from Ray Fust to make it a 3-1 contest.

Tarr brought Canisius within one with 2:26 remaining in regulation, deflecting junior Rhys Chiddenton's shot from the slot for his second goal in as many contests to get the Griffs within one.
