Hockey Downed by Bentley in Series Finale

Nick Bevilacqua stopped all 22 shots he faced while Kellan Hjartarson finished with a goal and an assist to lead Bentley to a 3-0 victory over Canisius in Atlantic Hockey America action Saturday at Bentley Arena in Waltham, Mass.

Colton Cameron and Stephen Castagna accounted for the other two goals for the Falcons (2-3-0, 2-0-0 AHA), who earned a sweep of their league opening series.

Senior Chase Clark made 27 saves between the pipes for the Golden Griffins (5-4-0, 1-2-0 AHA).

Hjartarson gave Bentley a 1-0 lead at the 9:11 mark of the first period, putting home a loose puck during a scramble in the Canisius zone.

Cameron doubled the Falcons advantage with 15:34 elapsed in the middle frame as he deposited a rebound off the end boards into the Canisius goal.

Castagna closed out the scoring in the final minute of regulation, beating Clark with his own rebound off the end boards to secure the sweep.

HEAD COACH TREVOR LARGE'S POSTGAME COMMENTS
"We're not looking for moral victories. Obviously, this is a good Bentley team and experienced team overall. I did like our compete, but we're not leaving satisfied at all. Zero points in a weekend is never our objective. We need to find more moments. Did we get the bounces this weekend? No, but we're not dependent on bounces, so we must take the lessons learned from a tough road weekend and go through this together and stay unified and understand that we have more, and we believe we will be better for it.

"We had the opportunity longer in the game to climb back into it. There might have been some moments where Bentley had momentum. But we looked up and it was only 1-0, and we had some good moments. In the third period, there was a lot of belief in this group. There was a lot of fight. Chase Clark was awesome again tonight and kept us in the game and it just didn't go our way. So, we're not trying to leave things to chance. That's never a great recipe. But in terms of the belief that we had, the compete that we had, I saw it in every guy wearing white tonight. We were committed to staying after the opponent, whatever happened in that game. That will serve us well moving forward."

GAME NOTES
