Cross Country Closes Out Regular Season at Canisius Alumni Classic

The Canisius men's and women's cross country team wraps up their regular season as they host their annual Canisius Alumni Classic.

On the men's side, senior Kyle Urban is the top returning runner from last season's race, placing sixth. Senior Brody Jones, junior Joseph Capuzzo, and sophomore Ryan Giglia all placed within the top-25 runners.

The women's team returns a top-5 finisher from last season, as sophomore Ella Krumpek finished in fourth place. Juniors Ella Herman, Payton Calkins, and Brooke Podgorski all placed within the top 55.

The two teams traveled to Bethlehem, Pa., on Oct. 3, as they competed in the Paul Short Run. The men finished in 38th place as the women finished in 35th.

Racing in the gold division 8k event, Urban turned in a time of 24:37.8, placing 117th. Freshman Nathaniel Fisher 25:17.7/212th) and Jones (25:54.0/280th) rounded out the top three male runners for the Golden Griffins.

In the women's brown division 6k race, sophomore Clara Sundberg paced the Griffs with a 157th-place finish, with a time of 23:15.2. Freshman Julia Gullo (23:28.0/174th) and junior Brooke Podgorski (23:56.5/221st) completed the top three female runners for the Griffs.

The Canisius men's and women's cross country teams head to Montgomery, N.Y., on Nov. 1 to compete at the 2025 MAAC Championships.
