Freshman Gabriel Leslie notched his third goal of the season in the 38th minute to propel Canisius to a 2-1 victory over Quinnipiac in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference men's soccer action Saturday at the Demske Sports Complex in Buffalo, N.Y.

Freshman Henrique Dias recorded his first collegiate goal to account to open the scoring for the Golden Griffins (4-6-1, 2-3-0 MAAC). Graduate goalkeeper Dom Dominguez got the start in net and made two saves.

Sivert Ryssdalsnes accounted for the lone goal for the Bobcats (3-7-1, 1-3-0 MAAC). Emilio Balderrama started in net for Quinnipiac, making three saves.

Canisius took an early lead in the 2nd minute when a cross from junior Edson Flores met sophomore Romero Nicolazzo's head, who knocked it across to an open Dias at the back post to give the Griffs the 1-0 lead.

Quinnipiac answered in the 12th minute as Ryssdalsnes' shot deflected off a Canisius defender and beat Dominguez from the left side of the box to tie the game at 1-1.

Leslie restored the Griffs lead in the 38th minute, making a defender miss before beating the Quinnipiac goalkeeper in the top left corner to lift the Griffs to the 2-1 victory.
