Golf Closes Out Colonel Shootout in Kentucky

Canisius sophomore Mikey Takacs moved up 15 spots on the leaderboard and finished tied for 37th in the field after he shot an even-par 71 Sunday, as the Golden Griffin golf team closed out the final round of the Colonel Shootout, hosted by Eastern Kentucky in Richmond, Ky.

Takacs posted a tournament score of 220 on Sunday after he carded his season-low round of 71. That score of 220 is the lowest 54-hole tournament score for the Iowa City, Iowa, native. Takacs finished second among Canisius golfers in the field, as senior Ryan Edholm posted a three-round tally of 218 following his two-over par score of 73 on Sunday.

In the team portion of the event, Canisius took ninth place out of 12 teams with a team score of 887. The host Eastern Kentucky Colonels won the event with a team score of 828, which was 24-under par.

Canisius will return to action Sept. 17, when the Griffs play host to the 70th edition of the Little Three Golf Championship. This year's event will be played at Crag Burn Golf Club in East Aurora, N.Y.
