Softball Ranks No. 22 on Easton/NFCA Division I Team Grade Point List

The Canisius softball team and its collective 3.66 team grade point average for the 2023-24 academic year ranks No. 22 on the Easton/National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) NCAA Division I Team Grade Point list, the NFCA announced today.

Canisius, one of 51 NCAA Division I softball programs to boast a team grade point average better than 3.60, is the highest-ranking Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) school on the list, which highlights 164 Division I schools with a team GPA of 3.0 or better.

In addition to the team honor, 16 Golden Griffins were named Easton/NFCA All-America Scholar-Athletes. To earn that honor, a student-athlete must hold a grade point average of 3.50 or better on a 4.0 scale for the entire academic year. This year's honorees include Alyssa Cloutier, Morgan Cook, Sydney Costan, Gabi Farris, Gianna Fazzolari, Rosie Gomez, Rebecca Hai, Emily Ilano, Ella Johel, Toria Kover, Olivia Manchester, Natalie Quonce, Dani Ross, Carrie Sidare, Dani Stefanie and Kate Wiggins.

In all, the NFCA honored 8,054 collegiate student-athletes for the 2023-24 academic year. The rankings and honors recognize the educational prowess of softball teams across the NFCA's membership categories. The NCAA Division I level led the way with 2,573 student-athletes earning a 3.5 grade point average last school year.
