Trio of Golden Griffins to Take Part in World Lacrosse Box Championships in September

A total of three former Canisius men's and women's lacrosse players will take to the field in Utica, N.Y., this September as they represent their countries at the 2024 World Lacrosse Box Championships.

Former men's midfielder Tim Edwards '15 will represent Team USA for the second time while on the women's side, former Golden Griffins midfielders Ashley Bull '17 and Erica Evans '18 will don the Red and White for Team Canada as the women host their inaugural championship.

The historic double championship, slated for Sept. 20-29, will feature the best men's and women's lacrosse athletes from around the globe competing for world titles. Ten nations will compete in the first ever women's box championship, while 28 national teams make up the field for the men's box championship.

The U.S. men have won the bronze medal at each of the previous five world championships, most recently in 2019. Edwards is one five members from the 2019 squad to return to the team for the 2024 championship, along with Gowah Abrams, Joe Resetarits, Blaze Riorden and Joel White.

A native of Jamesville, N.Y., Edwards has played seven seasons in the National Lacrosse League, including the past six as a member of the Colorado Mammoth. In 105 career games in the NLL, Edwards has recorded 44 points (11g, 33a) to go along with 1,314 face-off wins and 550 loose balls.

In four seasons on Main Street, Edwards finished his career tied with current Canisius head coach Mark Miyashita for eighth place on the program's all-time scoring list with 145 career points. His 80 career assists rank the 2012 MAAC Rookie of the Year selection fifth in that category while his 29 helpers during his junior campaign in 2014 are the sixth most by a Griff in a single season.

Bull was a five-year member of the Canisius program, helping the Griffs claim four MAAC titles during her time on Main Street. A native of Langley, British Columbia, Bull was the 2014 MAAC Defensive Player of the Year and a three-time All-MAAC First Team selection as she finished her career with 81 goals, 15 assists, 123 ground balls and 65 caused turnovers.

Bull currently works for Lacrosse Canada as a High-Performance Coordinator. She has also represented Canada on the international stage, notably as a member of the 2011 U19 Women's Field Lacrosse Team, where she contributed to winning a bronze medal at just 16 years old. Bull has also worked as member of the Lacrosse Canada Sixes coaching staff.

One of the most decorated players in program history, Evans was a three-time MAAC Midfielder of the Year honoree and the school's first-ever Tewaaraton Award Semifinalist in 2017. The Peterborough, Ontario product finished her career as the program's career record holder for goals (186) as well as the school's single-season record holder for both points (91) and goals (76).

Internationally, Evans has represented Canada as a member of both the senior women's national team and the U-19 squad. She helped guide the Red and White to a silver medal at the 2022 World Lacrosse Women's World Championship and a gold medal at the 2022 World Games. Evans has been recognized as an all-tournament team selection at both the 2017 World Games and the 2015 FIL U-19 Women's World Lacrosse Championship. She has also won three box lacrosse national championships in Canada with Team Ontario.
