Men’s Basketball Home Opener Set for Nov. 9

Canisius head men's basketball coach Jim Christian announced today that the Golden Griffins' 2024-25 home opener will be a non-conference game against long-time rival St. Bonaventure at the Koessler Athletic Center on Saturday, Nov. 9.

The game on Nov. 9 will be the earliest scheduled date between the two schools in series history, which dates back to Jan. 23, 1920. Canisius and St. Bonaventure have played in every season since the 2002-03 campaign, except for the COVID-shortened 2020-21 season, and the Griffs enter this year's annual match-up having won two straight and four of the last five meetings. Last year, the Blue and Gold went on the road and defeated the Bonnies 70-67 at the Reilly Center in Olean, N.Y.

The game time for the 172nd all-time meeting between the Griffs and the Bonnies will be announced at a later date. This year's match-up at the Koessler Athletic Center will mark the ninth time in series history that these two squads have met on the hardwood inside the KAC, with each team winning four games previously.
