Two Former Griffs Selected in 2026 NBA G League Draft

Two former members of the Canisius men's basketball program were selected in the 2026 NBA G League Draft, held Saturday evening. Former forward Jasman Sangha '25 and Tre Dinkins were both selected in the two-round event, making those players the first Golden Griffins to be chosen in the G League Draft in program history.

Sangha was taken by the Windy City Bulls, the G League affiliate of the Chicago Bulls, with the 29th pick in the second round. Dinkins, who played for the Blue and Gold from 2022-24, was taken with the 28th pick in the first round by the Westchester Knicks, the G League affilaite of the New York Knicks.

Sangha, who was the first player to sign with Canisius under head coach Jim Christian prior to the 2024-25 campaign, played 20 games and made 11 starts as a Griff before missing the final 11 games of the campaign with an injury. He averaged 9.2 points and 3.4 rebounds and scored a career-high 26 points against Maine on Dec. 16, a performance that led him to be named the conference's player of the week. In his one season with the Griffs, he made more 3-point field goals (11) than his previous three seasons of collegiate ball, and he recorded his first college double-double with 14 points and 10 boards against Merrimack at home on Dec. 6.

Dinkins, who was an All-MAAC Third-Team selection after his junior year in 2023-24, played 62 career games as a Griff and made 41 starts. In that 2024-24 campaign, the Chester, Pa., native averaged 15.4 points per game and made 85 3-point field goals, which ranked fifth in program history at the time. One of his 85 makes from 3-point land was a half-court, buzzer-beater at Manhattan on the final day of the 2023-24 regular season, and the video of that game-winner ended up being viewed on X and Instagram more than 325,000 times in a 24-hour span.

The 2026-27 edition of the men's basketball team will open the year on the road at Penn State on Nov. 2, and the team will play host to long-time rival St. Bonaventure at the Koessler Athletic Center on Nov. 7. For tickets to all Canisius home men's basketball games, CLICK HERE.
