The Dukes came out hot in the second quarter, taking advantage of an 11-5 spurt early in the frame to build a 13-point cushion. The teams exchanged baskets the rest of the way, giving Duquesne a 44-32 edge heading into the halftime break.

Canisius had its best offensive quarter in the third, outscoring the Dukes 21-18 and shooting 64.3 percent from the floor. The Griffs cut the lead to six points with 6:50 remaining in the quarter before Duquesne closed out the quarter on a 15-12 run to hold a 63-52 edge heading into the fourth.
