The Griffs found themselves trailing 23-20 late in the second set before a pair of Marist attack errors, coupled with kills from Zaucha and Hedqvist, allowed the Griffs to force set point. After both sides traded points, Canisius was able to string together points through a pair of attack errors from the Marist side to secure a 28-26 win.

In the third frame, Canisius jumped out to a 16-8 lead before Marist responded with a 6-1 run of their own. With the Griffs leading 22-17, the Red Foxes narrowed the deficit as they took advantage of a 5-1 run to pull within one. A kill from Hedqvist and an attack error from the Red Foxes proved to be the difference, allowing the Griffs to prevail, 25-22, and complete the sweep.
