2024-25 Basketball Broadcast Schedule Released

Fifty-six (56) of the 61 combined Canisius men's and women's basketball games during the 2024-25 regular-season are scheduled to be broadcast live on ESPN+, the Canisius athletic department announced on Tuesday.

A total of 28 Canisius women's basketball regular-season games will appear on the ESPN+ platform, starting with the 2024-25 season opener on Nov. 5 when the Golden Griffins travel to play at Pittsburgh in a game that will be shown live on both ESPN+ and ACC Network Extra. The only two scheduled women's basketball game that will not appear on an ESPN network this season will be played Nov. 7, at Penn State (Big10 Network+) and Nov. 14 at St. Francis (Pa.) As of Oct. 22, 28 Canisius' 31 men's basketball regular-season contests will be aired on ESPN+, with the 2024-25 season opener on Nov. 4 at nationally-ranked Arizona set to appear live on both ESPN+. The Griffs' road games at Mercyhurst Nov. 13, at Maryland Nov. 19 and at Loyola Chicago Dec. 18 will be shown live on NEC Front Row, Big10 Network+ and the Marquee Sports Network, respectively. "The Voice of the Griffs" Jay Moran will return as the primary play-by-play voice for both the men's and women's basketball teams on ESPN+, where he will once again be joined by color analyst, Richard Walsh '79. The 2024-25 season will mark the 10th year where the athletic department's digital media staff will produce live game coverage to be aired through the ESPN digital platform.

Additionally, the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) and ESPN recently announced that four Canisius men's basketball games, have been chosen to be a part of the 2024-25 MAAC Wildcard Broadcast Package. Two of those games (Jan. 31 vs. Niagara and Feb. 28 vs. Manhattan) are home games, while the team's road games at Quinnipiac (Feb. 6) and at Marist (Feb. 21) are also on the list. Additionally, the Canisius women's home game against Rider on March 6 has also been chosen as a potential "Wildcard Game". ESPN and the MAAC will announce the "Wildcard game" 10 days prior to the scheduled contest. The wildcard format allows ESPN to pick any game scheduled for that specific date to air on ESPNU, giving the flexibility to showcase the best matchups as the season progresses.

Live audio broadcasts for all 31 Canisius men's basketball games will return exclusively to GoGriffs.com, with Andy Helwig '19 back on the airwaves for his seventh season as the team's primary radio play-by-play announcer. The online audio broadcasts start 15 minutes prior to tip-off with the M&T Bank Pregame Show.
