Andie Hill and Christopher Mello to Join Athletic Training Staff

Assistant athletic director for sports medicine Andy Smith announced the hiring of Christopher Mello and Andie Hill to join the athletic training staff. Mello will work with the Golden Griffins ice hockey and cross county/track programs while Hill will work with the women's basketball and men's lacrosse programs.
 
"I am excited to welcome Andie and Christopher to the Golden Griffin family," Smith said. "Their enthusiasm and prior experiences will help enhance the services provided to our student-athletes."
 
Hill comes to Canisius after spending the past three years at Medaille University, serving as the primary athletic trainer for soccer, field hockey, men's volleyball and softball. While at Medaille, Hill coordinated practices and worked with the men's soccer program that qualified to the NCAA Tournament. She also worked with Clarion Area High School's baseball, basketball, football, softball, volleyball and wrestling programs from 2017-2020. She assisted in BESS testing and implementing daily rehabilitation programs. Hill earned her undergraduate degree in athletic tranining from California University of Pennsylvania in 2020.
 
Mello comes to Main Street after working at the University of Maine since 2021. While with the Black Bears, he served as the primary trainer for women's basketball, field hockey, women's ice hockey and track and field. Mello was responsible for the day-to-day treatment and rehabilitation plans to each of his assigned teams while assisting with physicians' appointments for injured athletes. He also worked at UConn with the Huskies men's ice hockey and club rugby teams as an athletic training student. Mello earned his undergraduate degree in athletic training from UConn in May of 2020 and his master's in kinesiology and physical education from Maine in May of 2022.
