• First Pitch
The Canisius softball team heads back to the south, playing in the Campbell Invitational March 3-5 in Buies Creek, N.C. The Golden Griffins will face North Carolina Central and host Campbell Friday before squaring off against Furman and Lehigh on Saturday. The Blue and Gold wrap up the weekend against the Mountain Hawks with a 9 a.m. contest on Sunday.

• Success Against the Opponents
Canisius is a combined 11-1 all-time against its four opponents this weekend with the lone loss coming against Lehigh.

The Griffs 2-0 against Campbell and Furman, 3-0 against North Carolina Central and 4-1 versus the Mountain Hawks.

Canisius is set to face Lehigh and North Carolina Central for the second straight season.

In 2022, Lehigh defeated the Griffs, 5-2, in the USF Tournament in Tampa, Fla.

The Blue and Gold faced the Eagles for the first time in program history last year, winning all three games by a combined score of 34-8 in the UNCW Tournament.

• Walking It Off
Senior Tiara Johnson hit a two-run walk-off single on Feb. 19 against Boston University to give Canisius a 6-5 win in nine innings. This was the Griffs' second walk-off victory of the season, as sophomore Saige Alfaro collected a walk-off single for the 12-4 five-inning mercy-rule win against Tennessee Tech in the first game of the campaign. In 50 games in 2022, Canisius had just three walk-off victories.

Johnson's extra-inning walk-off gave the Griffs three straight extra-inning wins dating back to the 2021 campaign.

• Speedy Start to 2023
Canisius opened the season with 27 stolen bases in 29 attempts over the first seven contests in Charleston, S.C., paced by junior Christie McGee-Ross' eight swiped bags.

It took the Griffs 16 games in 2022 to reach the 27-steal mark en route to the team establishing a program record 108 stolen bases.

• Back to The Palmetto State
Canisius returns to South Carolina for the final time in the regular season when it takes part in the Beach Chicken Bowl in Conway, S.C. The five games will be played March 10-12 with the Griffs facing Ohio State, Houston Christian and host Coastal Carolina.
