The Parker sisters, Aaliyah and Angel, led the Purple Eagles (12-11, 11-4 MAAC) with 28 and 16 points, respectively. For Aaliyah, she finished the contest with a double-double as she also hauled in a game-high 10 rebounds. As a team, Niagara shot nearly 50 percent from the floor, finishing the contest 29-of-60 (.485).

The Golden Griffins (7-17, 4-11 MAAC) were paced by sophomore Cheyenne Stubbs, who had 14 points while junior Dani Haskell added in 13 points of her own. On the glass, sophomore guard Athina Lexa scooped up a team-high four rebounds for the Griffs. As a team, Canisius shot 18-of-52 (.346) from the field for the game.

Down 14-7 at the first media timeout, Canisius came alive to close out the first quarter, outscoring the Purple Eagles, 10-7, the remainder of the way to end the first quarter only down four, 21-17. Graduate student Vannessa Garrelts highlighted the run for the Griffs, scoring six of their 10 points during the stretch.

The Griffs momentum from the end of the first would carry into the second, with Canisius hitting a pair of shots, courtesy of freshman forward Sisi Eleko and Stubbs, to make it a three-point game, 25-22, with 8:57 to play.

Niagara would respond with a 6-3 spurt of their own to go up by six, 31-25, with 6:11 remaining before halftime. Canisius was able to find an answer, keeping the Purple Eagles scoreless while notching six points of their own to tie the game, 31-all, with 4:05 to play.

Canisius and Niagara would trade baskets to close the half, but the Purple Eagles would enter the dressing room ahead, 39-35.

Out of the halftime break, each team would be stuck in a cold streak, with both sides combining to shoot just 6-of-21 from the floor during the opening 7:51 of the second half. Still, amidst the cold snap, Haskell would score four points while Stubbs and sophomore Lydia Gattozzi contributed two scores of their own to make it a two-point game, 45-43.

Niagara would find its form before the quarter ended, using a 12-2 surge over the remaining 1:11 of the frame to enter the fourth quarter ahead, 57-45. Lori Parker paced the Purple Eagles with six points while the Parker sisters each added a make from deep during the run, punctuated by a half-court buzzer beater by Angel.
