1) Opening Faceoff
The Canisius men's lacrosse team closes out non-conference play Saturday with a matchup against America East foe Vermont. Start time for the contest between the Golden Griffins and Catamounts is slated for noon at Virtue Field in Burlington, Vt.

2) Series Notes
Saturday's game serves as the sixth all-time meeting between the two programs. Canisius trails in the series, 1-4, but was victorious the most recent meeting, posting an 11-6 victory over Vermont on March 9, 2016 in the first ever NCAA Division I lacrosse game to be played in Canada (Oshawa, Ontario). Saturday's matchup is the first between the Griffs and Catamounts to be played in Burlington, Vt.

3) Richiusa Recognized by MAAC, USILA
Canisius freshman Johnny Richiusa was recognized with weekly awards from both the MAAC and the USILA following his dominant performance at the faceoff X during the Griffs' 9-8 victory against Siena at the Demske Sports Complex on March 20. The MAAC Faceoff Player of the Week and USILA Division I Team of the Week selection won 17-of-20 draws and scooped up a career-high 13 ground balls in the victory over the Saints. Richiusa also recorded his first career point, posting an assist in the second quarter on a goal from sophomore Keegan Kozack.

4) A Team Effort Offensively Leads to Win over Siena
Canisius was able to overcome a quiet day offensively from its top two scorers as redshirt freshman Colin Kelly (28 points) and senior Jacob Buck (18 points) were both held off the scoresheet in Canisius' 9-8 victory against Siena. Sophomore Keegan Kozack (3g, 1a) led the way for the Griffs in the victory with four points while juniors Nathan Conry (1g, 1a) and Jackson Naylor (1g, 1a) pitched in two points apiece.

5) Close Games Nothing New for Canisius under Miyashita
Canisius has had a flair for the dramatic during the Mark Miyashita era as 30 of its 56 games under the fifth-year head coach have been decided by three goals or less. The Griffs have posted a 17-13 record in those contests, highlighted by an 9-7 mark in games decided by a single goal. Canisius is 2-2 in such games this season, with wins over Bellarmine (13-11) and Siena (9-8) and setbacks to Air Force (8-9) and Cleveland State (10-12).
