1) Opening Face Off
The Canisius men's lacrosse team continues its season-opening road swing Saturday with a visit to Bellarmine. Opening faceoff between the Golden Griffins and Knights is scheduled for noon at Owsley B. Frazier Stadium in Louisville, Ky.

2) Nice to Meet You and Your Friends
Saturday's game serves as the first meeting between Canisius and Bellarmine. The matchup against the Knights serves as the first of four games against Atlantic Sun competition for the Griffs this season as they are also scheduled to face A-SUN members Air Force (Feb. 26), Cleveland State (March 6) and Robert Morris (March 9) during non-conference play.

3) An Impressive Debut
Redshirt freshman Colin Kelly had an impressive collegiate debut during the Griffs' season-opening matchup against Hobart on Feb. 12, finishing with four points on three goals and one assist. The attackman is the first Canisius rookie to record a hat trick in the team's season-opening contest since former standout and 2021 Canisius Sports Hall of Fame inductee Adam Jones scored three goals in the Griffs' 2008 debut at Princeton. A native, of Syracuse, N.Y., Kelly was named the MAAC Rookie of the Week on Monday for his efforts.

4) Consistent Keegan
Sophomore attackman Keegan Kozack has shown a knack for finding the back of the net consistently during the start of his collegiate career as he has scored a goal in all 11 games he has played in at Canisius. Kozack, a native of Delta, British Columbia, recorded a hat trick in the Griffs' season-opening contest at Hobart on Feb. 12. He has four hat tricks and seven multiple-goal performances so far in his career.

5) Vavonese Making Saves
Graduate goalie Matt Vavonese has made the most of his time in the cage for Canisius, recording double-digit saves in six of his seven career starts for the Griffs. He finished the 2021 season with double-digit stops in each of his last five starts, including three-straight efforts of 13 or more saves to finish off the campaign. Vavonese began the 2022 season by matching his career high with 16 saves in Canisius' season-opening contest against Hobart on Feb. 12.
