• The men's basketball team closes out non-conference play with a pair of road games. The Golden Griffins square off against Big Ten foe Penn State in a noon matchup on Dec. 18 before heading to the Sunshine State for a 7 p.m. clash versus FGCU.
• In their lone game last week, the Griffs suffered a heartbreaking 59-58 setback at Toledo in the first meeting between the two programs since the 1987-88 campaign.
• Redshirt-freshman Tahj Staveskie matched a season-high with his 19 points. For his efforts, Staveskie was named the Hercules Tires MAAC Rookie of the Week on Monday for the fourth time this season. He is the first Canisius newcomer to have been chosen as the league's rookie of the week four-or more times in a season since current senior Jacco Fritz earned the award four times in 2019-20.
• Graduate student Jordan Henderson added 17 points, five rebounds and four assists in 36:55 of game action. Senior Jacco Fritz posted his second-straight double-double after he scored 12 points to go with a team-high 12 rebounds.
• After the holiday break, Canisius plays its first home conference games of the season as it welcomes Rider to the Koessler Athletic Center for a 7 p.m. matchup on Dec. 30 before ringing in the new year with a 1 p.m. matinee against MAAC newcomer Mount St. Mary's on New Year's Day.

• Women's basketball opens conference play with a pair of home contests, beginning with a matchup against Rider on Dec. 17 before hosting Marist on Dec. 19. Both games are slated to begin at 1 p.m. from the Koessler Athletic Center and will be broadcasted on ESPN3.
• Against Youngstown State on Dec. 10, freshman forward Brooklyn Thrash notched her third career game with double-digit points as she finished the contest with 15. The Wayne, Ohio product, also added in four assists, four steals and two blocks.
• Since the series began during the 1981-82 season, the Griffs have enjoyed a fair amount of success versus Rider, compiling a 33-17 overall record versus the Broncs, highlighted by a 17-7 ledger at the Koessler Athletic Center.
• Sophomore guard Athina Lexa had a game to remember against Marist last season as she poured in a career-high 26 points during the Griffs 65-61 victory at home on Feb. 12, 2022. She also added in five rebounds, two assists and two steals in the triumph against the Red Foxes at the Koessler Athletic Center. 
• After their games against Rider and Marist, the Blue and Gold will go on their holiday break before returning to action Dec. 29 with a MAAC road contest at Manhattan. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m., with the game streaming on ESPN+.
