The Canisius women's soccer team closes out the home portion of its regular-season schedule Wednesday as it welcomes Marist to the Demske Sports Complex for a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference contest. Opening kickoff for the contest between the Golden Griffins and Red Foxes is slated for 4 p.m.

Wednesday's matchup has major implications for both programs as the league begins the final week of the regular season. Canisius is tied with Iona for fourth place in the standings with 10 points, while Marist is just two points back of the Griffs in seventh with eight. The top six teams advance to the MAAC Women's Soccer Championship, which begins with a pair of first-round contests on Oct. 30.

Canisius looks to get back on track after seeing its five-game unbeaten streak halted with a 2-1 setback to league-leading Fairifeld on Oct. 15. Sophomore Sophia Konstantinou scored the Griffs' lone goal of the contest with a long-distance blast in the 71st minute, but the Stags used a pair of first-half tallies to take over sole possession of first place in the league standings.

The Griffs completes the conference portion of its regular-season schedule on Saturday when it travels to Manhattan for a noon kickoff at Gaelic Park.
