After falling behind early in the first set by as many as seven points, the Griffs staged a late comeback. kick-started by a service ace from senior outside hitter Ella Loussia. The two sides kept it close until a 7-3 Iona run sealed the 25-19 set win for the home team, giving the Gaels a 2-0 match lead.

The third set was close from the start with neither team holding a large advantage. The Griffs brought it to within one at 11-10 off an Iona attack error, but the Gaels used two separate 3-0 scoring spurts midway through the set to seal the 25-23 set victory and the match sweep.
