The Canisius volleyball team looks to build momentum in the MAAC as it heads to New Rochelle, N.Y., to face Iona in a battle of top-two teams. Both squads are tied for second in the MAAC with Marist.
 
Last weekend, the Golden Griffins took the MAAC by storm, sweeping Battle of the Bridge rival Niagara in back-to-back matches by final scores of 3-1 and 3-0. The Griffs not only swept Niagara, but also the Molten Volleyball MAAC Weekly Awards with senior outside hitter Ella Loussia taking home Player of the Week, senior libero Bree Long earning Libero of the Week, and freshman setter Ella Bourque claiming Rookie of the Week.
 
This was Loussia's first player of the week award this season, Long's second nod for libero of the week and Bourque's fourth time securing rookie of the week. Bourque has taken home rookie of the week four out of five weeks so far this season. This is the first time in his career head coach Tom Hanna has ever had three of his players win all three MAAC weekly awards in the same week.
 
The Blue and Gold are back in action on Oct. 2nd when they travel to Riverdale N.Y., to take on Manhattan.
