FIVE THINGS TO KNOW

1. Opening Tip
The Canisius women's basketball team concludes its two-game home swing Saturday when it hosts Siena for a battle between Empire State MAAC schools. Tipoff between the Saints and Golden Griffins at the Koessler Athletic Center is slated for 1 p.m.

2. Last Time Out
Freshman Cheyenne Stubbs scored nine points, hauled in seven rebounds and recorded eight steals, while fellow first-year player Rhay Porter blocked five shots, tying Jen Lennox for the Canisius Division I freshman record for blocks (28), in a 62-53 loss to Quinnipiac on Thursday.

Stubbs' seven rebounds and eight steals were both season highs for the Bradenton, Fla., native.

Sophomore Dani Haskell scored a team-high 16 points, while freshman Athina Lexa chipped in 10 points for the Golden Griffins.

3. Stealing the Show
Freshman guard Cheyenne Stubbs recorded eight steals in the Griffs' loss to Quinnipiac on Thursday. The eight steals are the most by a Canisius player since Brittané Russell recorded nine against Colgate on Nov. 12, 2007.

Stubbs became just the fourth freshman with an eight-steal game this season, joining Chicago State's Aaliyah Collins, Miami's Lashae Dwyer and Colorado's Kindyll Wetta.

Along with her nine points and seven rebounds, Stubbs is the third Division I player this season with 9+ points, 7+ rebounds and 8+ steals in a single game. The other players who accomplished the feat were Syracuse's Teisha Hyman (27 points, 8 rebounds, 11 steals) and Norfolk State's Camille Downs (20 points, 8 rebounds, 10 steals).

4. Block Party
Freshman Rhay Porter (5 blocks) and graduate student Ella Väätänen (4 blocks) each recorded at least four blocks in Thursday's loss to Quinnipiac. They became the first Canisius tandem on record since the 1993-94 season to log four-plus blocks in the same game.

5. Porter's Know How to Block
Freshman forward Rhay Porter's 28 blocks are the most by a Griff since Crystal Porter had 32 in the 2014-15 season.

With her five blocks Thursday, Rhay recorded her seventh multi-block effort of the season. Her total is the most by a Canisius player since Crystal logged 10 such performances during the 2014-15 season.

Rhay is four blocks shy of tying Crystal for the 12th-most blocks by a Canisius player in a single season.
