Women’s Soccer Blanked by Fairfield

Box Score Fairfield scored twice in the final 10 minutes of the contest to pull away with a 3-0 victory over Canisius Saturday afternoon from Lessing Field in Fairfield, Conn.

With the win, the host Stags improve to 3-2-1 (7-4-3 MAAC) in conference play, while the Golden Griffins moved to 0-6-0 (0-11-2 MAAC) on the year.


Lexi Lehan opened the scoring in the seventh minute, putting the Stags up 1-0.


Fairfield added to their lead in the 83rd minute when Stephanie Tsangaris made it 2-0.


Jenn Bonifazio netted an insurance tally in the 89th minute, securing the victory for the Stags.


Freshman goalkeeper
Jordan Spencer turned away 15 shot attempts for Canisius in the loss, shattering her previous season-high of three.
 
Game Notes
• Spencer made her sixth appearance of the season and fifth start in Blue and Gold.
• Junior Abby Molloy and seniors Luca Fahmer and Maya Palmer played the full 90 minutes on Saturday.
 
Up Next
Canisuis returns to Connecticut Wednesday where it will face Quinnipiac. Kickoff against the Bobcats is slated for 2:30 p.m. from Quinnipiac Soccer & Lacrosse Stadium.
