Manhattan Bests Men’s Soccer, 3-1

Brandon Joseph-Buadi recorded a goal and assist, aiding Manhattan to a 3-1 win over Canisius in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference men's soccer action Wednesday afternoon from Gaelic Park in Riverdale, N.Y.

Manhattan (3-7-2, 1-4-1 MAAC) had the advantage over Canisius (1-10-2, 1-5-0 MAAC) in shot attempts, 31-17, and shots on target, 15-7, during the contest.

Canisius goalkeeper William Howard established a career high for saves in the contest, making 12 stops.

Manhattan opened the game scoring three unanswered goals, one in the opening half and two early in the second half.

Omar Torres got the Jaspers on the board in the 13th minute, receiving a pass from Joseph-Buadi. Ronaldo Da Silva extended the Jaspers lead in the 58th minute prior to Joseph-Buadi adding a goal just three minutes later.

In the 63rd minute, Joseph-Buadi was booked with a red card after taking down Howard inside Canisius' penalty area, forcing the Jaspers to play the remainder of the game with 10 men.

Matt Spangler added his first goal of the season in the 89th minute to round out the game's scoring.

Kodie Sarkodie and Jonny Tekie recorded three shot attempts a piece for the Griffs, while Lachlan Beever had a team-best two shots on goal.

Head Coach Dermot McGrane's Postgame Comments
"I'm not exactly sure who was playing against Manhattan today because it did not resemble the team that I've been seeing every day in practice and games for the past three months. We did not play the way we are capable of playing and that is unacceptable."

• Howard's 12 saves marked the sixth time that the graduate transfer has stopped at least five shots and his third 10-plus-save game of the season.
