Senior Salute - Rowing

The COVID-19 pandemic brought an abrupt end to winter and spring sports for the 2019-20 academic year. Today (April 26) would have marked the final home regatta of the spring season for the rowing program, a day where the Golden Griffins would have honored their 2020 Senior Class.

As a result, GoGriffs.com and each spring sports team's social media channels will be posting "Senior Salute" for each senior throughout the coming weeks.

Morgan Adams • Rower • East Aurora, N.Y.
A two-year letterwinner who joined the Griffs in the fall of 2018 after swimming for two years at Hartwick College, Adams quickly rose to become a member of the second varsity eight at the 2019 MAAC Championship and continued to be a key contributor to that boat through the first four regattas of the 2019-20 season. She will earn her degree from Canisius in creative writing.

Tara Federow • Rower • Niagara Falls, Ontario
A four-year letterwinner who worked her way into the varsity eight crew during her rookie campaign, Federow helped the Griffs to a third-place finish at the 2017 MAAC Championship and then maintained a spot with the Blue and Gold's top boat for the next three years. She will earn her degree from the College in sport management.

Misa Gamble • Coxswain • St. Louis, Mo.
Serving as the coxswain in the varsity eight crew for four-straight seasons, Gamble was instrumental in the Golden Griffins reaching the grand final of the MAAC Championship in her first three years, as well as claiming the top spot in the 2018 and 2019 Black Rock Cups. A two-time MAAC All-Academic Team selection and a 2019 CRCA National Scholar Athlete, she will graduate from Canisius with her degree in animal behavior.

Brittany Gorczyca • Coxswain • Elma, N.Y.
A three-year member of the rowing program, Gorczyca started as a coxswain at the 2018 Black Rock Cup before filling in as a rower during the 2018-19 season, and then earned the role as the coxswain of the second varsity eight during the fall of 2019. The 2019 MAAC All-Academic Team member will graduate from the College with her degree in biochemistry.

D.D. Hurley • Rower • Buffalo, N.Y.
A four-time letterwinner for the Griffs who joined in the spring of 2019 after previously rowing for the Miami University (Ohio) club team, Hurley proved to be a key factor in the Canisius varsity four taking home first place in the petite final of the 2019 MAAC Championship. She will earn her degree from Canisius in business economics.

Sara Ruszczyk • Rower • Hamburg, N.Y.
A former walk-on and four-year letterwinner for the Blue and Gold, Ruszczyk established herself on the varsity four as a sophomore, helping the boat to the grand finals of the 2018 MAAC Championship before becoming a veteran member of the second varsity eight crew the past two seasons as an upperclassman. She is set to earn a degree in physical education from the College.

Emma Vicaretti • Rower • Buffalo, N.Y.
A co-captain for the Griffs over the past two seasons, this four-year letterwinner helped the Griffs to an impressive third-place finish in the second varsity eight's grand final at the 2018 MAAC Championship. She was part of the varsity eight in her junior year, also earning honors to the 2019 CRCA Division I All-Conference Team. The two-time MAAC All-Academic Team member will graduate from Canisius with her degree in communications.
