The Blue and Gold were down two, 55-53, with less than a minute remaining in the fourth quarter when Sanderlin got the ball at the free-throw line and drove left for a layup, tying the game at 55-all. Following a timeout, and with 35 seconds remaining, the Gaels set Camilion up for a 3-pointer, which she connected on from the wing, putting Iona on top 58-55.

On the ensuing Canisius possession, Timbers was able to work her way inside and score to trim the Gales lead to just one, 57-58, however, with just 12 seconds left the Griffs were forced to foul. Iona went 2-for-6 from the charity stripe in the last 12 seconds and Canisius failed to score on its final two possessions of the contest which allowed the Gaels to hold on for the game's final margin.

Head Coach Scott Hemer's Postgame Comments
"When you're at this point in the season and you're struggling to put wins on the scoreboard it can take a lot out of you, mentally, emotionally and at this part of this season, physically. I give the girls a lot of credit, their energy was good and their focus was good. It was a step in the right direction defensively, I understand we gave up 60 points, but there were a lot more positive signs on the defensive side of the floor than I think we have had in many weeks."

Game Notes
• Iona improves to 36-26 all-time against the Blue and Gold.
• Timbers' career-high 19 points surpass her previous career-high 16 points she set during her time with Toledo.
• Sanderlin collected her eighth career double-double. The Williamstown, N.J., native also reached double figures in the scoring column for the 20th time in her career.
• Freshman Shaunae Brown played a career-high 23 minutes.
