Manhattan started the game with an 8-0 spurt before freshman Shaunae Brown connected on a 3-pointer from the wing to put the Griffs on the board. The Jaspers would go on to outscore Canisius 11-6 in the final 5:18 of the frame to take a 19-8 lead into the second quarter.

The Blue and Gold offense found its stride in the second frame, clawing it's way back into the game and erasing the 11-point Manhattan advantage. Canisius took its first lead of the contest at the 4:59 mark of the second quarter when Sweny drove past the Jasper defense and sunk the layup. The Griffs and Jaspers would go into halftime tied at 30 after Warley made two at the line before to end of the half.

Manhattan would regain control in the third quarter but Canisius would once again battle back, this time from six-down to tie the game at, 44-44, on a 3-pointer from Patterson-Ricks. Following the media timeout in the third quarter, Høier would connect on a pair of layups to give Manhattan a 48-45 lead heading into the final 10 minutes of the contest.

Head Coach Scott Hemer's Postgame Comments
"I was proud of the team tonight for the way they responded in the second quarter, I thought early (Manhattan) were able to take advantage of their size and do some different things that hurt us a little bit and it would have been easy for us to feel sorry for ourselves; but we responded big time in the second quarter to get back into the game and tie it up at halftime. I thought twice in the second half when Manhattan made runs we bounced back and found ways to be resilient."

"Although there were a lot of things that weren't perfect tonight, for 40-minutes they showed some character."
