Men’s Lacrosse to Face Michigan in Tuesday Tilt

The Canisius men's lacrosse team travels to Big Ten foe Michigan Tuesday for its first midweek contest of the 2020 campaign.
 
Opening face-off between the Golden Griffins and Wolverines is set for 4 p.m. at the U-M Lacrosse Stadium in Ann Arbor, Mich.
 
Scouting Canisius
• Canisius stands at 0-2 on the season following a 22-10 defeat at the hands of Robert Morris on Saturday at the Pinnacle Athletic Campus in Victor, N.Y.
• Sophomore Jacob Buck paces the Griffs attack with 11 points (8g, 3a). Buck has recorded three or more points in each of his last four games, dating back to the end of the 2019 season.
• Senior Mathieu Boissonneault is second on the team's scoring chart with eight points on five goals and three assists. Boissonneault sits just two points away from reaching the 100-point plateau for his career.
• Senior Cody Haas and freshman Otto Bergmann have split time in goal for the Griffs thus far this season. Bergmann has posted double-digit saves in each of his first two outings, recording 25 stops in his first 76 minutes of collegiate competition while Haas has made 10 stops in 44 minutes of action.
• Canisius heads into Tuesday's tilt looking to maintain better control of the ball as it has committed a combined 37 turnovers in its first two outings of the season. The Griffs were charged with 22 miscues in their most recent outing versus the Colonials.
 
Scouting Michigan 
• The Wolverines enter Tuesday's midweek matchup with a 1-1 record on the season, having defeated Cleveland State at home by a 16-9 margin in their 2020 debut on Feb. 8 before suffering a 12-9 setback at Hofstra last Saturday.
• Three players – Bryce Clay, Alex Buckanavage and Josh Zawada – are all tied for the team lead with seven points each. Clay paces the squad with six goals while Buckanavage and Zawada are two of three players tied for the team lead with three assists.
• Nick Rowlett has gotten off to a solid start at the face-off X for the Wolverines, winning 21-of-39 draws to begin the campaign (.538). Rowlett won 14-of-23 face offs in the season-opening victory over the Vikings.
• Matt Trowbridge has started both games in goal for Michigan and has compiled a 9.87 goals against average and a .556 save percentage in 97 minutes of action this season.
 
Canisius-Michigan Series History
• Tuesday's contest serves as the second meeting between Canisius and Michigan.
• The Wolverines won the inaugural matchup between the programs back on Feb. 28, 2015, a 13-5 triumph in Ann Arbor.
