Five Things to Know Before Canisius Hosts No. 19 Colgate Saturday at the Demske Sports Complex

1) Canisius Hosts No. 19 Colgate Saturday
• The Canisius men's lacrosse team squares off against No. 19 Colgate Saturday in a 1 p.m. matinee at the Demske Sports Complex in downtown Buffalo. The matchup between the Golden Griffins and Raiders is the first between the two New York-based programs in Buffalo since the 2008 season, a 13-12 overtime victory for Colgate.

2) Griffs Versus Ranked Teams
• Saturday's contest against No. 19 Colgate provides Canisius another opportunity to make a splash on a national stage. The Griffs are squaring off against a nationally-ranked opponent at home for the third consecutive season, having taken on No. 8 Albany in 2017 and No. 18/19 Robert Morris twice during the 2018 campaign.

3) Caito's Career Day Sparks Canisius Past Robert Morris
Senior attack Mario Caito had a day to remember in the Griffs 12-8 victory at Robert Morris on Saturday as he recorded a career-high six goals in his return to the lineup. The Solon, Ohio, product tallied four goals in the second quarter to key a pivotal 6-1 spurt for Canisius before putting the game away with a pair of man-up goals late in the fourth quarter. In five games this season, Caito has already surpassed his career high for points, ranking fourth on the team's scoring chart with 15 on 10 goals and five assists.

4) Nordstrom, Buck Honored with MAAC Weekly Awards
Senior goalie Brad Nordstrom and freshman attack Jacob Buck were both recognized as the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference announced its men's lacrosse weekly award winners on Monday. Nordstrom was named the league's Defensive Player of the Week while Buck took home Rookie of the Week honors. The duo was instrumental in guiding the Golden Griffins to a 12-8 victory at Robert Morris on March 9 as Nordstrom matched his season high with 15 saves while Buck contributed three points in the victory over the Colonials, scoring two goals and adding an assist, to help Canisius snap a seven-game losing skid to the NEC foe.

5) Free Instructional Clinic to be Held Postgame
• The Canisius men's lacrosse team, in conjunction with DICK'S Sporting Goods, will host a free instructional clinic following Saturday's contest. The skills clinic, which will take place from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., for boys in grades 1-8, will include instruction from Canisius head coach, and Team Canada Men's National Team assistant coach, Mark Miyashita, along with selected men's players. Registration is capped at 100 participants. All players who sign up will receive a free ticket to the game, as well as a special gift from DICK'S Sporting Goods. All parents & siblings will be offered a discount rate for tickets to that afternoon's game.
