The Griffs shot 39.6 percent from the field in the losing effort, making just 2-of-9 from 3-point land, and 86.7 percent (13-for-15) from the free-throw line, but Albany took advantage of 20 Canisius turnovers which resulted in 21 points for the Great Danes.

Schecter posted a double-double in the win, as she added 13 rebounds to her 18-point effort on the day. Forward Amanda Kantzy was good for 15 points, three rebounds and three assists and Helene Haegerstrand came off the bench to chip in 12 points for Albany, which snapped a five-game losing streak with the victory.

Albany led 18-15 after one quarter of play and pulled away from Canisius by outscoring the Griffs 22-11 in the second frame, highlighted by Schecter and Haegerstrand, who combined for 12 of the Great Danes' 22 points in the second stanza to give the visiting team a 42-26 lead at halftime. Out of the intermission, Kantzy scored eight points in the third quarter to help stretch Albany's cushion to 58-36 after three quarters of play as the Great Danes shot 53.3 percent from the field in that 10-minute stretch and turned seven Canisius turnovers into 10 points.

The Griffs outscored the Great Danes in the final frame, however, at that point Albany's lead was too much to overcome.

Head Coach Scott Hemer's Postgame Comments
"We knew their size up front would give us trouble and it did. We played much harder and that's certainly a positive but we have to do a better job finishing if we're going to take another step closer to winning on a consistent basis. "
