Monmouth Defeats Women's Soccer

Box Score The Canisius women's soccer team was unable to hold off league-leading Monmouth, as the Golden Griffins fell 6-0 to the Hawks on Saturday night at Hesse Field in West Long Branch, N.J.
 
The win moves the Hawks to 8-2-2 overall and 6-0-0 in MAAC play on the season, while the Griffs fell to 6-6-0 overall and 1-4-0 in league action with the loss.

Monmouth took a 1-0 lead in the game's 11th minute on an own-goal by Canisius, and the three-time defending MAAC champions scored four more times before halftime to take a 5-0 advantage into the intermission.

Canisius senior goalkeeper Alana Rossi made six saves through the first half before fellow senior Meaghan O'Neill came in as relief, making three saves of her own.
 
Game Notes
• Saturday's game marked 10th meeting between the Hawks and the Griffs.
• Monmouth leads the series 9-1-0.
