Five Things to Know Before Canisius Plays Host to Rider
1. Griffs Open MAAC Play 2-0
• Canisius' 70-66 win over Siena Jan. 5, moved the Golden Griffins to 2-0 in MAAC play for the second-straight season and for just the seventh time in program history. This year also marks the second time since 1989-90 where the Blue and Gold started the MAAC slate with a 2-0 record after winning two road games. The only other time the Griffs started league play with two-straight road wins was 2012-13.

2. Picking Up Where They Left Off
• After setting a school record with 15 MAAC wins a season ago, this year's Griffs kept the winning ways going in conference play last weekend with road wins at Marist and Siena. In their last 20 league games, the Griffs are 17-3, which is tied for the program's best record in a 20-game MAAC stretch. The 1993-94 and 1994-95 Griffs went a combined 17-3 over a 20-game span as well.

3. Closing Out Non-League Play
• Canisius closed out the
non-league portion of the 2018-19 slate with a 97-90 overtime loss to Brown Tuesday night in the Koessler Athletic Center. The Griffs' 12 non-league opponents have a combined record of 110-76, and two teams (Florida State and Buffalo) are ranked in this week's Associated Press Top-25 poll.

4. Johnson Scores 19, Moves Up the Assist List
• Junior Malik Johnson scored a team-high 19 points in the overtime loss to Brown on Tuesday and also earned two assists. Those two assists
gives him 340 for his career, which ranks him tied for 11th in school history with former Griffs guard Robert Turner.

5. Reese Getting It Going
• Junior Isaiah Reese scored 15 points in the loss to Brown on Tuesday, the fourth time in the team's last five games where he has scored in double-figures. In those five games, the Miami, Fla., native is averaging 14.6 points per game, which ranks second on the team, and he enters Friday's game against Rider ranked among the MAAC's top-10 in six different statistical categories.
