Men’s Basketball Opens 2025-26 MAAC Schedule at Saint Peter’s

FULL 2025-26 SCHEDULE | BUY/RENEW SEASON TICKETS NOW
The Canisius men's basketball program will open the 2025-26 MAAC schedule on the road at longtime league rival Saint Peter's on Dec. 5, the conference office announced Thursday.

The conference schedule announcement comes on the heels of the Golden Griffins publishing their 2025-26 non-league slate, which was posted online Aug. 15. To read that release, CLICK HERE.

For the second-straight year, the MAAC schedule will be unbalanced. Each school in the 13-team league will play eight conference opponents twice (one at home, one on the road) and four other conference rivals one time, each. Per MAAC scheduling policy, each school is guaranteed to play its closest geographic opponent, but the rest of the opponents that a school plays only one time were chosen at random. For this season, Canisius will not host Rider or Saint Peter's, and the Griffs are not scheduled to play road games at Marist or Merrimack.

Season tickets for the combined home men's and women's basketball schedule are on sale now through the Canisius Ticket Office by CLICKING HERE. Fans can also purchase their season ticket plans, which cost $230 for reserved and $130 for general admission, by calling the ticket office at (716) 888-TIXX.

The Griffs officially open their 37th season of MAAC play on Dec. 5, when the Blue and Gold travels to play at Saint Peter's in Jersey City, N.J. The conference opener against Saint Peter's will mark the first time the Griffs start league play against the Peacocks since the 2013-14 campaign, a year where the team went on to record 14 conference victories. Canisius will close out the opening weekend of MAAC play Dec. 7 with a game at Siena at MVP Arena in Albany, N.Y. The Griffs defeated the Saints, 93-88, in Albany last season.

After the conclusion of the non-league slate and the Christmas holiday, Canisius will return to league play Jan. 2 when the team hosts Fairfield at the Koessler Athletic Center. That game against the Stags will be one of the Griffs' five league home games during the first month of the calendar year, as the team will also play host to Sacred Heart (Jan. 4), Niagara (Jan. 14), Mount St. Mary's (Jan. 17) and Marist (Jan. 30). The game against Niagara on Jan. 14, which happens to be the first day of classes on campus at Canisius for the 2026 spring semester, will be the 196th all-time meeting between the two Western New York rivals.

After starting February at home with a game against Siena (Feb. 1), Canisius will head north on Feb. 3 to play at Niagara to close out the annual "Battle of the Bridge" series. The Griffs will have a quick turn-around with a game at Quinnipiac on Feb. 5 before returning home Feb. 13-15 with a pair of home contests against Iona and Manhattan. Canisius' final road MAAC weekend will see the Blue and Gold play at Rider (Feb. 20) and at Mount St. Mary's (Feb. 22) before the team closes the regular season at home with contests at the Koessler Athletic Center against Merrimack (Feb. 27) and Quinnipiac (March 1).

The 2026 MAAC Men's Basketball Championship tournament will be held March 5-10 at Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, N.J. The top-10 teams in the 13-team conference will qualify for the league's annual postseason event, with the winner securing the conference's berth into the 2026 NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Championship tournament.
