Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Quinnipiac Spoils Women’s Basketball Kid’s Day, 84-55

The Canisius women's basketball team hosted the 19th-annual Kid's Day at the Koessler Athletic Center but was bested by the Quinnipiac Bobcats, 84-55. With the loss Canisius dropped to 6-14 overall and 4-5 in MAAC play, while the Bobcats improved to 16-5 overall and 10-0 in conference action.

The Golden Griffins started off fast in the contest, rushing out to a five-point lead in the first five minutes, holding a 10-5 lead at the first media timeout. However the game changed from that point on, as Quinnipiac finished the quarter on a 14-3 run, taking a 19-13 lead into the break and never looked back.

Turnovers proved to be a deciding stat for the game as the Blue and Gold gave it away 27 times leading to 37 Quinnipiac points.

Sara Hinriksdottir paced the offense, tallying over 15 points for the third-straight contest, pouring in 16 and adding three rebounds. Anndea Zeigler reached double-figures for time in her career, totaling 12 points.

Anna Sweny showed her tenacity in the paint, especially early on, leading the team with seven rebounds.

The Bobcats had three players in double-figures with Jen Fay leading the team with 17 points and six rebounds. Aryn McClure wasn't far behind posting 16 points, while Paula Strautmane totaled 10.

THOUGHTS FROM COACH ZEH
"We got dominated in every aspect of the basketball game," head coach Terry Zeh said. "They pressured us out of everything we wanted to run. They just dominated us from start to finish. We got rattled, and it effected us offensively and defensively. We got all on our own page and we were just running around."

"Kid's day is awesome. It's a shame we couldn't give them something to cheer for. They have so much fun. It's a tradition here that's phenomenal and wish we could have done our part because it's fun to get them in the game but unfortunately they didn't have much to cheer for."

GAME NOTES
