Canisius men's soccer closes out the non-conference portion of its 2017 schedule Saturday when it entertains Binghamton in a 7 p.m. contest at the Demske Sports Complex.
 
The first 100 fans in attendance who follow the official twitter account of the men's soccer program, @GriffsSoccer, will receive a free Canisius scarf by visiting the merchandise stand.
 
The game will be shown live on ESPN3.
 
Scouting Canisius
  • Riding a program-record six game winning streak, the Golden Griffins (6-1-0) return home after
  • wrapping up a two-game road swing Sept. 19 with a 2-1 overtime victory at Big Ten foe Rutgers.
  • The Griffs have been producing at a prolific offensive rate in the early going as Canisius ranks in the top five nationally in goals (3rd), assists (4th), and points (4th).
  • Sophomore Troy Brady scored in the 97th minute in Canisius' triumph against the Scarlet Knights to record his team-best third game-winning goal of the season. Brady begins the weekend leading the MAAC and ranking fifth nationally in goals (6) and goals per game (0.86).
  • Senior keeper Marco Trivellato recorded three saves in the Griffs victory against Rutgers to record his fourth win of the season and move into a tie for fifth place on the program's career wins list (12). Trivellato also sits in fourth place on the school's career shutouts chart with eight.
  • Head Dermot McGrane enters Saturday's contest needing just one victory to surpass Jim Hersh to become the program's career wins leader.
 
Scouting Binghamton
  • The Bearcats (2-4-1) enter Saturday's contest looking to halt a winless skid that stands at five games following a 1-0 setback to Columbia at home last weekend.
  • Nikos Psarras leads the Bearcats in scoring with five goals.
  • Noah Luescher has dished out a team-best four assists to go along with three goals.
  • Alejandro Cubillo and Chris Shutler have split time in goal for Binghamton. Cubillo has started six of seven contests, posting a 1.78 goals against average and a .714 save percentage in 505 minutes of action.  
 
Canisius-Binghamton Series Notes
  • Saturday's contest serves as the third meeting between the two Empire State foes.
  • The Bearcats have won the previous two meetings, including a 2-1 triumph over the Griffs at the Bearcat Sports Complex last August to open the 2016 campaign.
  • The other meeting between Canisius and Binghamton took place during the 2004 season at the UB Tournament. The Bearcats won that contest by a 3-0 margin.
