Box Score 2 Christ Conley belted four hits in seven at bats, including a pair of home runs as the Canisius baseball played to a Saturday split at Quinnipiac, winning game one 10-4, and lost game two, 7-4.
GAME ONE
The Canisius offense started quickly and never relented in the first game of the doubleheader on Saturday, rapping out 13 hits and 10 runs in the 10-4 win over the Bobcats.
The Blue and Gold didn't wait long to stake claim to an early lead for their starter, using a five hit, four run rally in the top of the first to give J.P. Stevenson a 4-0 lead before even seeing the bump.
Stevenson recorded his team-leading seventh win of the season on Saturday, working through some mid-inning struggles, to finish having pitched 6.1 frames, allowing just eight hits and scattering four runs, with five strikeouts. He improved to 7-3 on the season.
Will Frank recorded his first save of the year, as he pitched 2.2 frames and held the Bobcats without a hit or run, and fanned three batters in the process.
Offensively the top of the order proved to be the difference as Jake Lumley, Tim Kensinger, Ryan Stekl, and Christ Conley, all finished with a pair of hits on the afternoon.
The third and fourth batters in the lineup finished with the best stat lines, as Stekl went 2-of-4 at the dish with three RBI and two runs, while Conely also finished two-of-4 with three RBI and three runs.
In the first inning, Stekl and Conely belted back-to-back RBI singles, before McKenna followed suit several batters later with an RBI knock of his own. Te scoring was capped as Stephen Bennett recorded the sacrifice fly to score Conely, as Canisius finished the frame with a 4-0 lead.
With the score 6-2, the Bobcats narrowed the lead to 6-4 thanks to a two-run bottom of the sixth, before another four-run output in the top of the eighth inning help put the game away.
In the eighth Stekl struck again with a two-run double, while came on next and blasted a two-run homerun to right field to help put the game out of reach.
GAME TWO
Quinnipiac jumped out a 7-0 lead through the first two frames and the Griffs were unable to claw back, despite a late comeback bid. Canisius scored three runs in the top of the fifth but that's all the Griffs could muster, losing to the Bobcats, 7-4.
Andrew Kneussle worked 3.1 innings and allowed seven runs and eight hits as he dropped to 3-3. Nolan Hunt worked the final 2.2 frames and allowed just one.
The Griffs managed nine hits, with Liam Wilson, and Conley led the way with a pair of knocks. Conley had another strong outing, tallying three RBI, including a two-run homerun in the fifth frame.
With the score 7-1 to in the fifth inning, the Griffs attempted to climb back into the game. Brett Migliore singled to left field, while Wilson followed that up with a single, to put two runners on.
Stekl flied a ball to right field to bring in Migliore, before Conley launched a dinger to right field to bring in two more runs, however that's as far as the rally went.
