Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Bucknell Drops Women’s Basketball, 76-57

RECAP
Bucknell used a strong start and finish to help defeat Canisius women's basketball, 76-57. The Bison tallied a 26 point first quarter and a 21 point fourth quarter, as Bucknell improved to 4-3, while Golden Griffins fell to 2-3 on the season.

Turnovers once again proved to be troublesome for the Blue and Gold as the Bison tallied 28 points off of 20 Canisius turnovers.

The Griffs had three players tally double-figure points with Sara Hinriksdottir paced the team with 19 points and chipped in five rebounds and four assists.

Sarah Cooley had her best day of the season thus far, hitting double-figures with 12 points, shooting 4-of-6 from the field and 2-of-3 from beyond the arc. She also led the team in rebounding with six boards.

Margret Halfdanardottir also notched double-figures, as she was also 4-of-6 from the field, and 2-of-3 from 3-point land, as she scored 10 points and recorded three rebounds and two assists.

Bucknell spread its offense around as four players had double-figures and five players had nine-or-more points on the afternoon. Kyi English was 6-of-10 from the field for 17 points, while Catherine Romaine (11 points), Kaitlyn Slagus (11 points), and Gia Hayes (10 points) also hit double-digits. Kate Walker was just a point shy of also reaching that plateau, tallying nine.

The Bison won the battle of the glass, taking down 38 boards as opposed to Canisius 30. Meanwhile Bucknell shot 42 percent for the game, including a 42 percent in the first half, while Canisius struggled in the first half, shooting just 34 percent in the first half and 37 percent for the game.

THOUGHTS FROM COACH ZEH
"I thought Bucknell did a nice job of capitalizing on their strengths," head coach Terry Zeh said. "We didn't do a good job of keeping them off the boards for long stretches. Offensively we didn't take care of the ball and they made us pay for many of our turnovers."

GAME NOTES
• With the loss Canisius falls to 4-5 all-time against Bucknell.
• Keeping with the trend of the series, no team has won back-to-back contests against each other, as Canisius won in 2015 and lost this season.
• Hinriksdottir has now tallied double-figures in all five games so far this season.
