Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men’s Soccer Battles Rider to 1-1 Draw

Junior Hunter Walsh scored his sixth goal of the season to pace Canisius in a 1-1 draw versus Rider in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference men's soccer action Saturday at Ben Cohen Field in Lawrenceville, N.J.

Senior keeper Marco Trivellato got the start in goal for the Golden Griffins (10-3-2, 4-1-2 MAAC) and matched his career high with nine saves. Elliott Otmani scored his eighth goal of the season while David Pastuna made six saves between the posts for the league-leading Broncs (10-3-1, 5-1-1 MAAC)

Walsh staked Canisius to a 1-0 lead in the 34th minute, heading home a feed from senior Lucian Preis for his third goal in as many contests.

Freshman Filippo Tamburini nearly doubled the Griffs' advantage to 2-0 in the 48th minute, but his shot from just outside the 18-yard box hit the crossbar and remained in play.

Otmani tied the game at the 57:13 mark, placing a shot from distance into the lower left-hand corner of the net to make it a 1-1 game.

Both teams had a chance to win the game in overtime. Sophomore Troy Brady found the right post in the 92nd minute for Canisius while Aaron Gabriel hit the left post for Rider in the 108th minute.
