Sophomore faceoff specialist Steven Coss and senior defender Rich Stapleton were honored with MAAC All-Tournament Team accolades following the conference's championship on Saturday.
Coss won 13-of-22 draws (59.1 percent) against the MAAC Faceoff Specialist of the Year in the semifinal defeat to Quinnipiac. The 13 victories at the X are a new school postseason record, surpassing the previous standard of 12 set in 2003.
The sophomore finished the 2016 campaign strong, winning more than 50 percent of his restarts in seven of the last nine contests. Overall, Coss recorded a 51.5 percent mark in his first season as the team's main weapon at the X.
An anchor of the Griffs' defense throughout the 2016 season, Stapleton held a first-team All-MAAC recipient to just one man-up goal (and just one assist with the teams even) in the semifinal. Stapleton collected one ground ball in the postseason and completed his senior year with 21 ground balls and six caused turnovers.
The Griffs finished tied for third in the MAAC standings in 2016 with a 3-3 conference mark.
