Junior Shane Conacher of the Canisius College hockey team and junior Jeff Edwards of the Griffs men's lacrosse team were both honored on the CoSIDA Academic All-District I At-Large Team on Thursday.

The duo is now eligible for the prestigious Academic All-America honors, which will be announced in early June. Conacher is 1-of-12 Division I hockey student-athletes in the country to collect the district honor, while Edwards is one of six Division I lacrosse players to earn the accolade,

Conacher and Edwards are 2-of-10 student-athletes to be named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District At-Large Team. District I encompasses all student-athletes from Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, New York, Rhode Island and Vermont in the sports of fencing, golf, gymnastics, hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming and diving, tennis, volleyball, water polo and wrestling.

A first-team All-Atlantic Hockey selection, Conacher led the Griffs with 46 points during his junior campaign – the third-most in the program's history – on 20 goals and 26 assists. He also established a new school record with six game-winning tallies, while ranking 17th nationally in points, 16th in goals, 26th in assists and eighth in game-winning goals.

One of the nation's top scoring midfielders, Edwards led Canisius with 40 points and 26 assists in 12 games as a junior. The Jamesville, New York native ranks fifth nationally among midfielders with 3.33 points per game, while also placing 10th among all players with 2.17 assists per game. In addition, Edwards led all players in the MAAC in assists per game, while placing third in points.

Canisius and Quinnipiac were the only two schools to land two student-athletes on the team.
