Campus Chronicles with Alexis Roskovich

The Griffs are back in town! Three weeks into the semester and the team is back in the swing of things. Summer is never an easy season to let go of, but coming back to Buffalo and being reunited with the Canisius community makes the transition to fall an easy one.

For those of you who are new to following the program, my name is Alexis (most people call me Rosko).  I am a senior on the team and have been writing our team blog as a part of the Athletic Department's Campus Chronicles for the past few years.

The most exciting part about the first few weeks of school as an upper classmen is meeting the freshmen! We get to see this group on campus tours, official visits, in meetings with coach and at our games, but it isn't until now that we really get to know them. This year's freshman class brought seven new CCWLAX-ers to the program and we couldn't be more excited.

I asked a few of my fellow seniors to describe the freshman class and this is what we came up with:

Blaire White: Is a Florida native with relatives in the Buffalo area. She is always up for anything and gives 100 percent. We are all hoping she will bring some of the Florida sunshine with her come December and January!

Brenna Shanahan: Joins our team with almost as much Canadian pride as senior Ashley Bull. We haven't seen a Canadian poncho come out of Brenna's closet yet, so for now Bull still holds the title of “Proudest Canadian”.

Tessa Chad: Besides her natural lacrosse ability, Tessa also brings her food service skills to the table for CCWLAX.  As many of you know, we work the Bills games during the season and she recently out ranked Coach Teeter, taking over the grill station. There is an ongoing debate as to whose burger was better… stay tuned for results!

Kayla O' Connell: Although she was quite the first few days, she has since come out of her shell and is always laughing about something. Kayla isn't afraid to tell you what she thinks; Senior Caroline Ogden found out first hand when Kayla made fun of her outfit choice.

Ellen Newton: Is well on her way to filling the shoes of Griff Alum Kayla Skully.  The chant “Ellen says No” has already been started and she is a star around campus (the entire women's basketball team chanted her name during our practice).

Jourdan Roemer: Is a trooper and is now going by the nickname “Tour” after an upperclassman noted the unique spelling of her name rhymed with Tourdan. She is always excited and eager to be involved, but she has her priorities straight…Laundry always comes first!

Carolyn Connors: Brings a lot of new dance moves with her from Hamburg, N.Y. It's rumored that they may have been the best dance moves to grace the locker room since Gabe Kotas.

We have no doubt it is going to be a great year. Stay tuned for the next Campus Chronicle and follow the team on Twitter and Instagram!

Just Keep Re'Laxing,

Rosko #28
