Edwards Inks Deal with Buffalo Bandits

Canisius College men's lacrosse standout Tim Edwards signed a one-year deal with the Buffalo Bandits of the National Lacrosse League, announced by the team on Friday. Edwards was selected in the fourth round – 36th overall – by the club in September

Just the second player in school history to earn All-MAAC accolades in each of his four seasons with the Griffs, Edwards finished his collegiate career ranked eighth in school history with 145 career points, fourth with 80 career assists and third with a .558 faceoff percentage.

The Jamesville, New York native played a key role on campus right from the start. The 2012 MAAC Rookie of the Year, Edwards scored the game-winning goal in the conference's title game as a freshman, helping lead the Griffs to their second NCAA Tournament appearance in school history. Overall, Edwards was named to the All-MAAC First Team in 2013, 2014 and 2015 after earning second-team distinction as a rookie.

During his senior campaign, Edwards led the Griffs in points (30), assists (13), ground balls (70), faceoff percentage (.528) and caused turnovers by a short-stick player (8). He set career highs as a junior in points (44), assists (29) and in faceoff percentage (.611), ranking eighth nationally at the faceoff X.

Edwards is one of five former Griffs listed on NLL rosters for the 2016 season, joining Dan Coates and Adam Jones (Colorado), Kevin Ross (Toronto) and Matt Vinc (Rochester).
