Senior midfielder Tim Edwards and senior defender Adam Donner of the Canisius College men's lacrosse team were both named to the Preseason All-MAAC Team, announced by the conference on Wednesday.
In addition, Canisius was selected third in the MAAC Preseason Poll. Defending conference champion Siena was picked first and followed by Marist. Detroit, Quinnipiac, Manhattan and Monmouth rounded out the poll after Canisius.
A three-time all-conference honoree, including a first-team selection in 2013 and 2014, Edwards led the Griffs in points (44), assists (29), ground balls (83) and faceoff percentage (61.1) last season. He ranked first in the MAAC and eighth nationally with his .611 faceoff percentage, while also placing 14th in the country with 1.93 assists per game and 29th with 5.53 ground balls per game.
Last week, Edwards became the second Griff to be selected in the Major League Lacrosse Draft when the Chesapeake Bayhawks took him with the 41st overall pick.
Donner joined Edwards on the All-MAAC First Team last season and was also selected to the All-MAAC Second Team in 2013. Donner led the Griffs with 12 caused turnovers to go along with 25 ground balls. The North Tonawanda, New York native also anchored the league's top-ranked scoring defense at 9.47 goals per game.
The Griffs open the 2015 season on Feb. 14 with a home contest against Boston University. Canisius returns 29 letterwinners and eight starters from last season, including 92.3 percent of its points, 91.5 percent of its goals, 94.7 percent of its assists and both goalies that saw action.
