Freshman
Kelly Reinwald (Stafford, Va.)
earned postseason accolades from Soccer Buzz Magazine, the exclusive women's collegiate
soccer web publication, as the organization announced its postseason awards for the 2008
soccer season.
The
first All-Freshman honoree for Canisius, Reinwald was named All-Freshman
Northeast Region among 15 other freshmen from Siena, Harvard, Boston College,
Fairfield, Hofstra, Long Island, Boston University, Stony Brook, Northeastern,
St. John's, Quinnipiac, and Columbia.
Reinwald
started all 19 games for the Golden Griffins, including the MAAC
Championship semifinal, the Griffs' first berth since 1992. She led the team with
27 points (11 goals and five assists), and had four game-winning goals
during the 2008 season.
In
voting of a selected panel of Division I head coaches and Soccer Buzz staff,
all 320 Division I programs were eligible for the awards that have been presented
since 1996.
The
Blue and Gold will be back in action on Feb. 22 against St. Bonaventure in
their first spring scrimmage game, held at the Demske Sports Complex at 2:00 p.m.
